Patterns on Subtones, Wind Sound

The sounds created with the softest dynamics, which are mainly breathing noises with a very subtle tonal coloration, can be produced in the first octave on all key combinations. Due to modifications in the length of the sounding tube of the instruments they have additional nuances and colour differences. Thus it is possible to produce texture made by this kind of emission associated with regular or irregular fingering patterns.

If the pattern is very fast with random fingerings and the player employs very subtle and gradual dynamic changes to give a plastic structure to the texture, we have the so called "Suono del Vento" or wind sound, which has been employed for the first time by Fausto Romitelli in his Seascape (1993) for amplified Paetzold recorder in F.
